About the event

AWS Community Day | Midwest
An annual one-day, user-run AWS technical conference that is planned, organized, and delivered by AWS user group community leaders (much like a “Meetup of Meetups”).
The goal of the Community Day is to facilitate the exchange of information amongst the AWS user community. The presentations are all given by speakers who are fellow AWS users sharing knowledge with their peers.
This year's event will be the 7th annual Community Day | Midwest and will take place in Milwaukee, WI at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel. It has previously been held every year since 2018 in Chicago or Columbus. We are excited to host it in Milwaukee for the first time this year.

Keynote Presentation
“New Tools, Same Craft: The Developer's Toolbox in 2025”
BROOKE JAMIESON Senior Developer Advocate | AWS
"Our development workflows look dramatically different than they did a year ago. Code generation, automated testing, and AI-assisted documentation tools are now part of many developers' daily work. Yet as these tools reshape how we code, and our toolbox is changing rapidly, the core of being a good developer hasn't. Problem-solving, collaborative debugging, and systems thinking remain as crucial as ever.
This keynote will explore:
- Which parts of our workflow are genuinely enhanced by new tools- The development skills that continue to separate good code from great code- How teams can collaborate effectively when everyone's tools are evolving- What this teaches us about balancing innovation with stability
No hype - just an honest look at incorporating new tools while preserving the craft that makes us developers in the first place.
